Little Tomato LOVES horses. As her vocabulary strength has progressed and she is reading early chapter books, Cowgirl Kate & Cocoa is a favorite. Each chapter is a short story relating the charming relationship between Kate and her horse, Cocoa. Cocoa has a short attention span, and a long appetite, but Cowgirl Kate knows how to take care of him. Their playful relationship makes for a delightful dialogue as the duo exchanges stories and banter.
The language is easy and the stories are peppered with expressive illustrations, which make this series an excellent transition from reading picture books to early chapter books. To date, there are 6 books in the series, though 'green light readers' have also been published as shorter 'favorite stories' option for younger readers.
